Meet Your Certified Nurse Midwife

Magen Reigel

I have many passions in my life, but none are stronger than my passion to provide women and families with support and empowerment during their pregnancy and birth.  Labor brings out the incredible strength and courage women have in the most beautiful way.  My goal is to provide care and guidance to ensure all my clients have a healthy pregnancy and the birth they envision, safely in their home.

I have dreamt about becoming a midwife since the age of 6 with the birth of my younger brother.  The anticipation, the excitement, and then he arrived!  It was everything I wanted to experience on a daily basis in my future career.  I’m now overjoyed to say I turned that dream into a reality.

I believe it is important to share a safe space for women to speak their minds and share their concerns and desires. Treating women as a whole includes the mind, body, and spirit. Women are cared for best when their provider doesn’t hold bias and judgment, but rather acceptance and understanding.

Pregnancy is a vulnerable time and trauma can sometimes happen.  I always keep this in mind throughout care and make it my goal to help clients achieve a joyous birth experience.  I’m here to support and advocate for your wishes, discuss your needs, and address your concerns.

I am grateful for my experience as a midwife in a hospital where I was exposed to complications in pregnancy and birth.  I managed low to moderate risk pregnancies and gained the knowledge and resources to identify issues and act appropriately to have good outcomes.  This has prepared me well to handle complications outside the hospital and I’m equipped with the training and supplies necessary for the rare times it’s needed.

Prior to my journey to midwifery, I solidified the desire to work in homes when I was a home health RN, and it’s exciting to now bring care to the homes of pregnant women.  My ability to personalize care, listen, and understand is what I value the most in my relationships with clients. Being properly informed, a woman should be able to confidently make decisions about her pregnancy and birth plan.   I strive to personalize pregnancy and birth to your expectations while keeping you and your baby safe.  I am rewarded when women achieve their goals of natural birth, including those that achieve a VBAC.  It is important to believe in the birthing process and believe in yourself.

After my first pregnancy I suffered postpartum depression, so I understand the importance of mental health on women and their families.  Struggles with mental health can disrupt labor, birth, and the postpartum time but with discussion, interventions, and support it can be managed and overcome.

When I am not out caring for moms and babies, I am home spending time with my husband Logan and two daughters.  We enjoy crafts, outdoors, stargazing, and camping in our free time.  I am excited to start this new journey from Wisconsin to Virginia.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I can't wait to meet you.
